Physical Education

Intent

At Oaksey CE Primary, it is our intent to teach Physical Education (PE) through our School Vision and Christian Values. Our School Vision – “as individuals we let our ‘light’ shine, but we shine brighter together” supports us to create an environment where all can thrive, learn to co-operate and be supportive of each other within our PE lessons, celebrating individual success while developing teamwork.  Within our PE lessons pupils are encouraged to reflect on our key values of thankfulness, generosity, truthfulness, forgiveness, justice, service, friendship, respect, perseverance, trust, co-operation and courage to help develop an excellent sporting attitude.

At Oaksey CE Primary School the intent of teaching PE is to give children the tools and understanding required to make a positive impact on their own physical health and well-being. We want all children to experience a wide variety of sports and physical skills which will enhance life-long fitness and life choices. PE can also challenge and promote self-esteem through the development of physical confidence and problem solving. It can teach children to cope with both success and failure in competitive, individual and team-based activities. Our dance curriculum will allow children to explore their personal and spiritual identity whilst encouraging creativity.
