Head's Welcome

Dear Parents

I would like to welcome you to Oaksey Church of England Primary School. I am very proud to be Headteacher of this small village school where the children are the heart of all learning. All adults within the school work closely together, ensuring that it is a special place to learn. We pride ourselves on creating a warm and friendly atmosphere in which all have opportunities to flourish.

Each child is treated as an individual, allowing room for their particular talents and skills to develop, as well as encouraging confidence and success in tackling areas they may find tricky. This is underpinned by our school vision of 'As individuals we let our light shine, but we shine brighter together.' Successes are celebrated weekly as we learn new skills and meet new ideas of thinking.

Over the last eight years our pupil numbers have stayed static with approximately 85 - 90 children in the school. The building of our new hall and, our extension for Year 1 and 2, coupled with a 'good' OFSTED Inspection in January 2018 and recent SIAMs Inspection in 2019 has provided us with an excellent learning environment and opportunities to take the school forward during the next few years.

In September 2015 the Governing Body fully endorsed an interim collaboration with Sutton Benger CE Primary School. Both schools worked closely together to further the education for all children, with staff leading joint learning projects and linking subject leadership. This has now finished and the Governors are investigating and open to new joint opportunities, including academisation for future collaboration.

We are also working with a local school's cluster, the Hobbes Alliance group. Here we are work  together to expand the opportunities of learning for our children. This involves monitoring data, sharing both human and practical resources as well as joint training and CPD opportunities. Groups of children have also worked together on projects.

We are delighted that our approach to teaching children as individuals has led to recognition in achieving The Challenge Award in July 2018, for developing all children's talents and we are now moving on with our re-accreditation. We have also been awarded in July 2019 the Enthuse Partnership Award for STEM learning, in collaboration with our Partner Schools.

We have close links with our local church, All Saints Church, which has very visual presence from our hall window. We link with our local Youth Club which meets weekly in their special room on site and also with the village for many activities (currently not running)

I hope you find this website useful and that it gives you a feel for our school and the children and the adults who treat each day as a new learning opportunity.  For further information on the curriculum please refer to our "Curriculum Statement"

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to ask any questions – we look forward to hearing from you.
